Inmunología : diagnóstico e interpretación de pruebas de laboratorio

El acelerado avance de la inmunología ha generado el desarrollo de técnicas que permiten resultados más precisos y de métodos de separación, tanto de componentes celulares como humorales, útiles en el diagnóstico. La presente edición tiene como objetivo proveer las herramientas necesarias para entender estos avances, junto con los mecanismos implicados en el desarrollo de algunas técnicas de diagnóstico inmunológico e interpretación clínica. Entre los temas tratados se encuentra el estudio de la estructura y fisiología de Toxoplasma gondii, que sirve de modelo para la elaboración de péptidos sintéticos de proteínas inmunogénicas y, además, puede ser aplicado en el desarrollo de métodos de diagnóstico en otros parásitos de importancia clínica. El presente manual ha sido elaborado con el fin de proporcionar una ayuda en el desarrollo de prácticas de laboratorio en inmunología y está dirigido, principalmente, a estudiantes universitarios y trabajadores de las diferentes áreas de la salud como medicina, bacteriología, biología y química.

Optical and micro-structural properties of high photoluminescence efficiency InGaN/AlInGaN quantum well structures

We have studied the optical properties of a series of InGaN/AlInGaN 10-period multiple quantum wells (MQW) with differing well thickness grown by metal-organic vapor-phase epitaxy that emit at around 380 nm. The aim of this investigation was to optimise the room temperature internal quantum efficiency, thus the quantum well (QW) thicknesses were accordingly chosen so that the overlap of the electron/hole wave function was maximised. At low temperature, we observed a reduction of the photo luminescence decay time with decreasing well width in line with the theoretical predictions. For a structure with well thicknesses of 1.5 nm, we measured a photoluminescence internal quantum efficiency of 67% at room temperature with a peak emission wavelength of 382 nm. Three band-gap QW intermixing in InP/InGaAs/InGaAsP system for monolithically integrated optical switch

Quantum well intermixing is a key technique for photonic integration. The intermixing of InP/InGaAs/InGaAsP material involving the deposition of a layer of sputtered SiO2 on the semiconductor surface, followed by thermal annealing has allowed good control of the intermixing process and has been used to fabricate extended cavity lasers. This will be used for optimization of the performance of optical switches consisting of passive components, modulators and amplifiers.

Single dipole mode photonic crystal laser on InGaAsP/InP QW waveguide slab - art. no. 698436

Single point defect microcavity possesses only the degenerate dipole modes under certain photonic crystal structure parameters. By deforming lattice structure, the degeneracy of the dipole modes has been broken. Theoretical simulation shows the large splitting of 65nm between the splitted x-mode and y-mode, approximate to the luminescent gain spectrum, which benefits for the single mode lasing. Experimentally the single dipole mode lasing, y-mode, is achieved in the deformed microcavity.
